ECTS Guide

The best way to move about Madrid with public transportation: metro or bus. You can buy a 10-ticket pass for both services called a metrobús. These are available in metro stations, EMT (Municipal Bus Company) kiosks, tobacco stands, and regular kiosks.

The cheapest way to travel around Madrid is with the Abono de Transporte. This pass permits an unlimited number of trips on the metro, bus, or train (with marked zones) for an entire month. You can buy this pass at tobacco stands.

For those over age 21, you need your passport and a photograph. At the tobacco stand you can fill in the paperwork and sign it. In about 15 minutes they will give you your pass.

For those under age 21 that want the pass immediately, you must follow the above procedure. If you want, you can pay directly to Nebrija University and they will acquire an Abono joven for you.
