54 Jesús Martín Ramírez. Director of the Nebrija-Santander Global Chair in Risk and Conflict Management The CICAs (international conferences on con- flict and aggression) are probably one of Nebrija University's flagships, not only because of its own international impact, but also, more specifically, for its important contribution towards research and society. But who are we? CICA offers international con- ferences aimed at addressing universal human problems related to conflict in a broad way that transcends disciplinary and cultural perspecti- ves, offering transdisciplinary knowledge. These CICAs began in 1983, bringing together acade- mics and researchers interested in the analysis and discussion of the relationship between brain and aggression and other related issues, such as violence, terrorism, peace and conflict at different levels, from one’s own interior to the international, through an inte- grated, comprehensive sys- tem with an interdisciplinary approach that considers both biological and psycho-cultural factors. The main feature of these CICA meetings, which have already been held in 20 countries around the world, is precisely this broad and comprehensive approach, which goes beyond disciplines, being open to many areas: individual and social psycho- logy, psychiatry, physiology, pharmacology, socio- logy, anthropology, animal behavior, child develo- pment, education, criminology, international law, political science, law, security and international relations, military and peace studies, as well as any other topic of interest to policy makers. The CICAs seek to integrate the different disciplines among themselves with the purpose of helping in the establishment of a stable social system, which is currently very necessary. We said at the beginning that the contributions of the CICAs have great importance for research. Proof of this are the 48 publications –most in English– that are the result of scientific contri- butions to the various CICAs, including books and mono- graphic issues of international journals. However, far from being con- tent with its scientific impact, we also want its messages to have the widest possible dissemination among socie- ty. In fact, the attendance of presidents of different repu- blics, presidents of parliaments, ministers and ambassadors of very different countries, as well as of the director general of UNESCO and of a Nearly fifty CICAs in twenty countries I t is one of N ebrija ' s flagships due to its important contribution to research and society The CICAs began in 1983, bringing together academics and researchers interested in the analysis and discussion of the relationship between brain and aggression.
