In the Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy, the importance of practice is essential. The curriculum includes internships from the very beginning, in a professional environment based on the study of real cases that are intensely connected to professional practice, thanks to the support in the adaptation of students to the scientific and technological advances of the current world, who are interested in staying up to date within the framework of lifelong learning.

The program is taught at the San Rafael-Nebrija Center, in a Campus located on Paseo de La Habana, in the heart of the city, with over 50 years of experience training health professionals, through the San Juan de Dios Foundation.

The Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy offers students training as general practitioners with quality scientific, technical and human training, capable of adequately addressing the tasks and actions of health promotion and recovery with the therapeutic means of Physiotherapy. This degree is taught at the San Rafael-Nebrija University Center for Health Sciences, managed by the Brothers of San Juan de Dios, who have extensive experience in both quality healthcare, characterized by comprehensive care for the person and the humanization of health services, as well as in the training of health professionals.

General objectives

  • Acquire extensive knowledge about health sciences, physiotherapy techniques and methods, as well as basic knowledge about human and social and instrumental sciences, in order to respond to the health needs of people and the community.
  • Develop knowledge and skills that enable the student as a professional to design and execute physiotherapy intervention plans, providing effective care and evaluating the results based on the objectives.
  • Acquire sufficient clinical experience in physiotherapy to adequately address clinical cases in the hospital and outpatient settings, as well as actions in the field of sports and primary and community care.
  • Develop the skills to carry out comprehensive care, focused on the person and the values of respect and humane treatment.
  • Incorporate ethical and legal principles into professional practice.

In the case of the San Rafael Nebrija University Center, students carry out supervised professional internships that immerse them in the working world. The Tutored Internship Coordinator, together with the professors responsible for the Practicum subjects of each internship level, direct and monitor students from the university center as they begin their tutored internships in the second year with the subject "Basic-level Tutored Internship", as well as in their progress throughout the years, with "Mid-level Tutored internship" (3rd year) and "Advanced-level Tutored Internship" (4th year).

Through tutoring sessions at the beginning of each academic year, students are informed of the characteristics of each of the internship centers at each level, so that they can request the centers in order of preference through the virtual campus. The assignment to each center is done in strict order according to the academic records, adapting said assignment -if necessary- to the particular situations of each student. These supervised clinical practices guarantee that the student has acquired all the competences required in the Bachelor's Degree. These internships are regulated by specific regulations that can be consulted on the campus throughout the academic year. The competences, as well as the evaluation system, are specified in the respective teaching guides.

The teaching of competences to be acquired during the internships will have the participation of both the tutors at the centers in which they are carried out, as well as the professors that head the Practicum subjects, who maintain close contact with each other in order to know how the student's learning is progressing, and with whom they will also periodically schedule tutoring sessions to monitor the rotations of practices.

In order to carry out the tutored internships, the San Rafael Nebrija University Center has a series of agreements with Centers in both the public and private sectors. Additionally, there are also agreements with foreign universities that allow students to carry out professional internships and, in some cases, take other subjects.

The Training and Employment Office (TEO) conducts a satisfaction survey of graduates regarding the academic training received, as well as their job placement. The information regarding the satisfaction of the Nursing and Physical Therapy Degrees is shown in the attached documents. This information was collected from surveys sent by email.
