ARECO Research Group (Antitrust, Regulation and Behavioral Economics)

Understanding markets, shaping policy, and advancing competition in the digital age.

The ARECO Research Group (Antitrust, Regulation and Behavioral Economics) explores how competition policy, regulation, consumer behavior, and digital market dynamics are reshaping today’s economy. Bringing together expertise from economics, law, and behavioral sciences, the group examines the forces that influence market efficiency, business strategy, and regulatory decision-making in increasingly complex and data-driven environments.

Its research focuses on key areas such as competition policy, free-market regulation, behavioral economics, and the evolving role of digital platforms within the data economy. Through an interdisciplinary approach, ARECO seeks to better understand how individuals, companies, and institutions make decisions, and how regulatory frameworks can promote innovation, transparency, and fair competition.

Led by Professor Fernando Díez Estella, the group combines academic research with strong connections to real-world policy and industry challenges. Its projects include collaborations with leading organizations and technology companies, addressing emerging issues such as cloud computing, digital ecosystems, market power, and the regulatory implications of technological transformation.

ARECO contributes to advancing evidence-based research at the intersection of economics, regulation, and human behavior, helping shape informed responses to the challenges of the digital economy.
