What is the quality coordinator?

The Quality Coordinator shares with the Dean or Director of each Centre the tasks derived from the leadership of the Centre for the quality management of the Centre and, consequently, ensures that all the people of the Centre are involved in the implementation of the activities related to the IQAS.

Key functions:

  • Ensuring that the processes necessary for the development of the Centre's IQAS are established, implemented and maintained.
  • Controlling the review and archiving of evidence.
  • Coordination and collection of proposals and actions for improvement.
  • Coordinating the preparation of the Annual Report on the Analysis of Results.
  • Reporting to the Dean/Director of the Faculty on the performance of the Internal Quality Assurance System and any need for improvement.
  • Ensuring that awareness of the IQAS requirements is promoted at all levels of the Centre: maintaining a fluid dialogue with the Dean/Director of the Centre, with those responsible for the degree programmes and, in general, with all teaching staff.

Coordination Commission

The existence of a Coordination Committee at university level has a dual purpose:

  • To coordinate the implementation and management of the Internal Quality Assurance System in all the Centres. In this sense, the University Coordination Committee will be a forum in which the various decisions adopted by the different centres are brought together and in which improvements are proposed in those aspects that are common to degrees from different centres.
  • To speed up decision-making in those processes that fall within the scope of the University.

The Coordination Committee is made up of the Director of the Technical Quality Unit, the Quality Coordinators of each of the Centres and a technician from the UTC, who will take the minutes of the meeting. The Coordination Committee will meet at least every six months. Meetings may be called by any of the members.

Quality Assurance Commissions

In order to achieve the implementation and continuous improvement of the Internal Quality Assurance System, as well as to facilitate the task of monitoring and accreditation of degrees, the Quality Assurance Commissions (CGC) have been created, which operate at Faculty or Centre level.

The main objective of the CGC is the continuous improvement of the official degrees offered at each centre.
It also acts as one of the vehicles for internal communication of the policy, objectives, plans, programmes, responsibilities and achievements of this system.

The CGC of each centre is responsible for the following functions:

  • Verification of the correct implementation of the study plans, ensuring compliance with the Verification Reports.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of the processes described in the Internal Quality Assurance System Processes Manual, through the associated indicators.
  • Proposal of corrective and/or preventive actions, formulated after monitoring the effectiveness of the processes and their associated indicators.
  • Publication of results: preparation of the Annual Report on the Analysis of Results.

The CGC meets at least every six months, after being convened by the Quality Coordinator.
