Analyse, design and implement business and nuclear energy cases with a systemic and interdisciplinary approach
Today, carbon-free and environmentally friendly power generation technologies, among which nuclear technology stands out, are almost unanimously in demand by society, and are being supported by most of the world's governments, which is translating into a growing need for nuclear professionals on a global scale.
Master aimed at postgraduates who wish to develop their professional future in the nuclear sector
In this context, the Master in Continuing Education in Nuclear Technology is a training programme aimed at postgraduates who wish to develop their professional future in the nuclear sector. This Master's degree offers students a highly advanced knowledge of the main nuclear power generation technologies and its main objective is to prepare professionals in the sector who will occupy positions of responsibility in companies in the world nuclear industry, both for the existing reactor fleet that will operate in the long term and for the new advanced design III+ and IV generation reactors.
This unique programme provides a broad and advanced understanding of all aspects of nuclear technology, giving a deep insight into both the fuel cycle and the engineering of the systems that make up nuclear facilities. It also provides a solid foundation in the fundamentals of nuclear operation, radiation protection, regulations and safety.
At the same time, this training provides excellent holistic training that will allow students to develop their managerial skills by providing theoretical and practical knowledge of organisational management: Management systems, leadership, safety culture, project management.
A more specific objective is for the Master's to provide a learning cycle based on experience, so that the students attending acquire the knowledge following a gradual process, which begins with the establishment of a well-founded conceptual basis, continues with the technology applied to the different systems of the generation plant and is consolidated with the operating practices in the simulator.
The second edition of the programme will start in October 2026.
At the Polytechnic School, we encourage hands-on learning through the 'learning by doing' approach, while establishing a close connection with the business world to train our students as leaders capable of solidly linking theory with practice".
With the collaboration of Westinghouse
Westinghouse Electric Company is a company founded in 1886 and headquartered in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, with operations in the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. It provides nuclear power plant products and services to utilities around the world.
The company is primarily engaged in development, licensing, detailed engineering, project management and component manufacturing, as well as providing support for new nuclear power plants.
Why study
the Master in Nuclear Technology
With the best professionals
The master classes, given by renowned experts in the sector, provide the state of the art in the different areas and are designed for attendees to interact with them and allow them to put forward their own points of view on the topics covered.
Each student will be an active part of his or her own training process
The programme provides the freedom to decide whether to access certain non-compulsory content such as: downloading documentation and additional material, frequently asked questions, curiosities, etc., making learning times flexible and adapting to the training needs of each student.
Innovative training
Inclusion of multiple didactic techniques, many of them new generation: videos with professional animations, 360° images, simulation, gamification, etc., which provides training with a more practical approach and with a deep degree of detail, capturing the student's attention and facilitating the understanding of the most complex concepts to the maximum.

Professional Outputs of the Master's Degree in Nuclear Technology
Students in this programme are in great demand, and not only to replace retiring staff in European nuclear power plants: economic globalisation and the growing presence of companies in various nuclear projects have contributed considerably to the demand for qualified personnel in this field.
Career opportunities include
- Development of advanced nuclear fission reactors, with new requirements for passive safety systems, non-proliferating fuel, actinide burning and transmutation of radioactive waste, as well as high temperature reactors with industrial applications such as hydrogen production.
- Development of nuclear fusion systems, in their magnetic and inertial confinement versions, together with methodologies for their numerical simulation and the development of new materials.
- Particle accelerators and their use in physics research, and their applications in medicine and industry.
- Research and understanding of the implications of the Nuclear Area for Security and Defence.
- Operating/supervising radioactive and nuclear facilities.
- Companies and public institutions in the nuclear sector (CSN, CIEMAT, ENUSA, ENRESA, etc.).
- Medical and industrial applications.
- Dismantling of nuclear and radioactive facilities.
- Radioactive waste management.
- Environmental applications (natural and environmental radioactivity, radon, etc.).
- Research.
- Teaching.
