Research Group on Cognition, Education and Individual Differences (CEDI)

We study how cognition, emotion and personal differences influence the educational process.

Centre information

Summary.

The CEDI Research Group focuses on the psychoeducational factors that shape the diverse cognitive profiles of students across different educational stages, with particular emphasis on four core psychological processes: attention, memory, emotion, and perception.

Alongside generating foundational knowledge and contributing to the advancement of scientific research in the field, the group places strong emphasis on the study of individual differences in teaching and learning processes. Its work also includes the development of evidence-based teaching materials for both school and higher education contexts, as well as scientifically grounded teacher training programmes informed by the latest research findings in cognition and education.

Research Areas

  • Memory, attention, and emotion, and their relationship to education.
  • Executive intelligence and its application in educational practice.
  • Individual differences in the cognitive processes involved in learning and education.
  • University teacher training and professional development.

ACELERA Thematic Network

Language is our main vehicle of communication. We debate, laugh and get excited through the use of words. However, this experience changes significantly if we use a foreign language learned late, because it requires more effort, concentration and cognitive resources than our native language.
