V Semana de Iniciación al a Investigación Nebrija - V- SIIN 5th Nebrija Research Initiation Week - V- SIIN
En la quinta edición de la Semana de Iniciación a la Investigación Nebrija organizada por la Cátedra de Recuperación de Energía en el Transporte de Superficie, 21 estudiantes con los mejores expedientes académicos en cada una de las titulaciones dentro de la Escuela Politécnica (Mecánica, Automóvil, Física, Matemáticas, Industriales e Informática), recibirán una formación de excelencia orientada hacia la ciencia y la investigación.
En esta edición de abordará el ciclo Rankine, se trata de una tecnología clave para el diseño y funcionamiento de plantas de generación de energía eléctrica. Las actividades programadas incluyen visitas a dos importantes infraestructuras energéticas, la Central de Cogeneración de Fuenlabrada (Iberdrola), y el Centro de Valorización Energética UTE Las Lomas (Valdemingómez), donde los alumnos tendrán la oportunidad de conocer de primera mano el funcionamiento de estas infraestructuras energéticas.
Asimismo, tendremos las ponencias de los investigadores Juan José Coble, director del Máster en Energías Renovables y Eficiencia Energética en la Universidad Nebrija, y Luca Cioccolanti, director científico del Research Center for Energy, Environment and Landscape (CREAT) en la Universidad eCampus.
La Semana finaliza con la competición de proyectos por equipos y la entrega de premios, en los que también intervienen antiguos participantes de ediciones anteriores, el evento iniciara a las 9:30 horas en la capilla del Campus de Madrid-Princesa de la Universidad Nebrija. Para comentar todas las presentaciones en un ambiente tranquilo, todos los asistentes, alumnos, familiares y docentes, disfrutaremos de un vino español en el patio.

In this fifth edition of the Nebrija Research Initiation Week organized by the Research Chair for Energy Recovery in Surface Transport, 21 students with the best academic records in each of the degrees within the Polytechnic School (Mechanics, Automobile, Physics, Mathematics, Industrial and Computer Science), will receive excellent training oriented towards science and research.
This edition will address the Rankine cycle, a key technology for designing and operating electric power plants. The scheduled activities include visits to two important energy infrastructures, the Fuenlabrada Cogeneration Plant (Iberdrola), and the UTE Las Lomas Energy Recovery Center (Valdemingómez), where students will have the opportunity to see first-hand how these power infrastructures work.
Likewise, there will be presentations by researchers Juan José Coble, director of the Master's Degree in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency at Nebrija University, and Luca Cioccolanti, scientific director of the Research Center for Energy, Environment and Landscape (CREAT) at eCampus University.
The Week will end with the team project competition and the awards ceremony, in which participants from previous editions also take part. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Madrid-Princesa Campus of Nebrija University. All attendees, students, family members and professors will be able to enjoy a Spanish wine in the patio and comment on all the presentations in an amicable environment

IV Semana de Iniciación al a Investigación Nebrija - IV- SIIN IV Nebrija Research Initiation Week - IV- SIIN
En la cuarta edición de la Semana de Iniciación a la Investigación Nebrija organizada por la Cátedra de Recuperación de Energía en el Transporte de Superficie, 22 estudiantes de diversos grados de ingeniería con los mejores expedientes, han disfrutado de una beca de excelencia Santander, para recibir una formación de excelencia orientada hacia la ciencia y la investigación.
En esta ocasión la tecnología seleccionada ha sido la SAM, tecnología basada en materiales con memoria de forma y su potencial aplicabilidad. Los alumnos han podido palpar este potencial de la mano de investigadores como la Dra. Ermira Junita Abdullah, de la Universidad de Putra (Malasia) e Iñaki Fernández de Bastida, de Centro Stirling (Guipúzcoa).
Una semana en la que ha primado el ingenio y la colaboración de los participantes trabajando por equipos, y donde ha quedado reflejada la implicación de los docentes, organizadores y, especialmente, de los alumnos, cuya entrega e interés ha estado claramente a la altura de la formación.

In the fourth edition of the Nebrija Research Initiation Week organized by the Chair in Energy Recovery in Surface Transport, 22 students from various engineering degrees with the best academic records were awarded a Santander excellence scholarship, in order to receive excellent education oriented towards science and research.
On this occasion, the selected technology was SMA, a technology based on shape memory materials and its potential applicability. The students were able to experience this potential thanks to researchers such as Dr. Ermira Junita Abdullah, from the University of Putra (Malaysia), and Iñaki Fernández de Bastida, from the Stirling Center (Guipúzcoa).
This is a week in which the ingenuity and collaboration of the participants working in teams took priority, and where the involvement of the professors, organizers and, especially, the students, whose dedication and interest were clearly up to the training.

Como broche final de la IV edición de la Semana de Iniciación a la Investigación Nebrija, organizada por la Cátedra en recuperación de energía en el transporte de superficie, y dentro de los distintos actos de la celebración del 500 aniversario del nacimiento de Nebrija, quisiera invitaros al acto de “Presentación de proyectos por equipos” donde los alumnos mostrarán su ingenio, como resultado de su esfuerzo y dedicación durante la semana. Tras la presentación, el tribunal de expertos se reunirá para deliberar y anunciar el equipo ganador del RETO. Acto seguido se procederá a la entrega de diplomas a todos los alumnos participantes. Seguidamente, se comunicarán los resultados del concurso: GREEN IDENTITY, donde se habrá seleccionado un logo para dar identidad al grupo de Investigación Nebrija en Ingeniería de Vehículos. Una vez finalizada la entrega de premios contaremos con el Vicerrector de Investigación quien procederá a clausurar la IV-SIIN. con todos los participantes, alumnos, familiares, y docentes que se encuentren en el acto.
La jornada comenzará a las 9:30 horas en el Salón de Actos del Campus de Madrid-Princesa de la Universidad Nebrija. Para comentar todas las presentaciones en un ambiente distendido, todos los participantes en el acto, alumnos, familiares y docentes, disfrutaremos a continuación de un vino español en el patio.

As the final touch of the IV edition of the Nebrija Research Initiation Week, organized by the Chair in energy recovery in surface transport, and within the different events of the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Nebrija, I would like to invite you to the "Presentation of team projects", where the students will show their ingenuity, as a result of their effort and dedication during the week. After the presentation, the panel of experts will meet to deliberate and announce the winning team of the CHALLENGE. Then, diplomas will be awarded to all participating students. Next, the results of the contest will be communicated: GREEN IDENTITY, where a logo will have been selected to identify the Nebrija Research Group in Vehicle Engineering. Once the awards ceremony is over, the Vice Rector for Research will proceed to close the IV-SIIN. with all the participants, students, relatives, and professors attending the event.
The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Madrid-Princesa Campus of Nebrija University. We will be able to comment on all the presentations in a relaxed atmosphere as all the participants in the event, students, family members and professors will then enjoy a Spanish wine in the patio.

En la tercera edición de la Semana de Iniciación a la Investigación Nebrija organizada por la Cátedra de Recuperación de Energía en el Transporte de Superficie, 17 estudiantes de diversos grados de ingeniería con los mejores expedientes, han disfrutado de una beca de excelencia Santander, para recibir una formación de excelencia orientada hacia la ciencia y la investigación.
En esta ocasión la tecnología seleccionada ha sido la piezoelectricidad y su potencial como transformador directo de energía mecánica en energía eléctrica y viceversa. Los alumnos han podido palpar este potencial de la mano de investigadores y empresas tan emblemáticas como Alberto Moure, del CSIC, Ismael Payo, de la UCLM, Silvia Zabala, del Centro Stirling-Embega.
Una semana en la que ha primado la interactuación alumnos-profesores trabajando en equipos, y donde ha quedado reflejada la implicación del equipo docente, Rafael Barea, Javier Aranceta y Carmen Iniesta; de expertos, antes mencionados y, especialmente, de los alumnos, cuya entrega e interés ha estado claramente a la altura de la formación.

The students were able to appreciate this potential from the hand of researchers and companies as emblematic as Alberto Moure, from the CSIC, Ismael Payo, from the UCLM, Silvia Zabala, from the Stirling-Embega Center.

Jornada Cátedra "Un espacio para el fomento de la investigación y la cooperación Universidad-Empresa" dentro de las conferencias en la Semana de la Escuela Politécnica Superior Chair Day "A space for the promotion of research and University-Company cooperation" within the conferences in the Higher Polytechnic School Week
En el contexto de la Semana de la Escuela Politécnica Superior 2021, la Cátedra Nebrija-Santander de recuperación de energía en el transporte de superficie organizó una jornada de conferencias centrada en la presentación del libro “Introduction to Thermoacoustic stirling engines: Firststeps in foundations and praxis” donde se ofreció una visión de la tecnología Stirling a lo largo de su historia. También se trató un tema de actualidad: "Cómo hacer de la investigación un fuego que se enciende para los alumnos degrado: Semana de Iniciación a la investigación Nebrija". La jornada también contó con dos ponencias online de una empresa invitada, Fagor Smart Data services donde se trató "La formación del conductor, clave en el ahorro de costes en el transporte de mercancías" y con una universidad invitada, La universidad del País Vasco, donde se indicó "La importancia de la I.A. en la optimización de trayectos y ahorro de combustible en el transporte urbano".
En dicha jornada se pudo constatar la capacidad de la cátedra para generar entornos de interes común entre universidad y empresa con el fin de identificar estrategias de cooperación dada la complementariedad de sus conocimientos y medios.

In the context of the Higher Polytechnic School Week 2021, the Nebrija-Santander Energy Recovery in Surface Transport organized a conference focused on the presentation of the book “Introduction to Thermoacoustic Stirling Engines: First Steps in Foundations and Praxis”, during which a vision of Stirling technology throughout its history was offered. A current topic was also discussed: "How to make research a beacon for undergraduate students: Nebrija Research Initiation Week". The conference also featured two online presentations by a guest company, Fagor Smart Data Services, where "Driver training, key to saving costs in freight transport" was discussed, and a guest university, the University of the Basque Country, where "The importance of AI in the optimization of routes and fuel savings in urban transport" was debated.
During this conference, one could corroborate the Chair's ability to generate environments of common interest between universities and companies in order to identify cooperation strategies, given the complementary nature of their knowledge and means..

II Semana de Iniciación a la Investigación Nebrija - IISIIN II Nebrija Research Initiation Week - IISIIN
Acaba de finalizar exitosamente la 2ª Semana de Introducción a la Ciencia, organizada por la cátedra Nebrija-Santander de recuepración de energía en transporte de superficie.
22 estudiantes de ingeniería de excelente expediente, procedentes de 6 universidades (U. Nebrija, UCLM, U.Málaga, UPV-EHU, UCM y UPM) han sido seleccionados de entre más de 50 candidatos de diversas universidades nacionales e internacionales, para recibir una formación orientada hacia la ciencia y la investigación.
En esta ocasión la tecnología seleccionada ha sido la termoelectricidad y su potencial como transformador directo de energía térmica en energía eléctrica. Los alumnos han podido ver este potencial de la mano de investigadores y empresas tan emblemáticas como Giacomo Cerreti, del JPL de la NASA, Octavio Armas, de la UCLM y Gustavo García, del Centro Stirling.
El equipo de trabajo ha tenido que ajustarse a las comprensibles exigencias que en esta ocasión nos ha impuesto la COVID-19. Una semana que estaba concebida para la interactuación alumnos-profesores trabajando en equipos ha habido que adaptarla a formación y prácticas telepresenciales y ha exigido un esfuerzo extra de coordinación y logística, que junto con la labor callada de Global Campus Nebrija y el departamento de comunicación, han sido de vital importancia esta Semana.
Sin embargo, esta situación tan ardua se ha superado con nota al contar con un equipo docente y, especialmente, de alumnos, cuya entrega e interés ha estado claramente por encima de las circunstancias. Los trabajos individuales realizados han reflejado estas dificultades, pero ha sido en los trabajos en equipo donde han brillado las cualidades humanas y de futuros buenos profesionales de est@s chic@s. Personas que no se conocían, de universidades distintas, han colaborado para identificar retos, estudiar alternativas, proponer soluciones y estudiar su viabilidad económica. Al mejor estilo Nebrija.
No queda sino felicitar a todos los participantes a los que esperamos ver en el acto de entrega de premios del próximo curso.

The 2nd Week of Introduction to Science just ended successfully, organized by the Nebrija-Santander Chair in Energy Recovery in Surface Transport.
Twenty-two engineering students with excellent academic records, from 6 universities (Nebrija U., UCLM, Málaga U., UPV-EHU, UCM and UPM) were selected from among more than 50 candidates from various national and international universities, to receive training oriented towards science and research.
On this occasion, the selected technology was thermoelectricity and its potential as a direct transformer of thermal energy into electrical energy. The students were able to appreciate this potential from the hand of researchers and companies as emblematic as Giacomo Cerreti, from NASA's JPL, Octavio Armas, from UCLM and Gustavo García, from the Stirling Center.The work team has had to adjust to the understandable demands imposed by COVID-19 on this occasion. A week that was conceived for student-teacher interaction and working in teams, has had to be adapted to remote training and practices and has required an extra effort in coordination and logistics, which together with the quiet work of Nebrija Global Campus and the communication department, have been of vital importance this week.
However, this difficult situation has been overcome with flying colors thanks to the teaching staff and, especially, students, whose dedication and interest has clearly been above the circumstances. The individual work carried out reflected these difficulties, but it was in the teamwork where these students' human qualities and that of future good professionals stood out. People who did not know each other, and were all from different universities, collaborated to identify challenges, study alternatives, propose solutions and study their economic viability. In the best Nebrija style.
The only thing left is to do is congratulate all the participants, whom we hope to see at the awards ceremony for the next academic year.

El 3 de abril de 2020 la cátedra de recuperación de energía en el transporte de superficie de la Universidad Nebrija reunió a un grupo de 10 expertos en tecnologías y métodos de recuperación energética. Estos expertos, pertenecientes a 6 grupos de investigación españoles, mostraron sus logros y capacidades, su relación con la industria y su mutuo interés en colaborar dada la complementariedad de sus conocimientos y medios.

On April 3, 2020, Nebrija University's Chair in Energy Recovery in Surface Transport brought together a group of 10 experts in energy recovery technologies and methods. These experts, belonging to 6 Spanish research groups, showed their achievements and capabilities, their relationship with the industry and their mutual interest in collaborating given the complementary nature of their knowledge and means.
