Information on Topics and Speakers

On behalf of CICA INTERNATIONAL, it is our great pleasure to announce and invite you to participate to the 44th and 45th CICA International Conferences on The Future of Security and Defence in Europe, taking place at Cracow, Poland (June 5-7, 2018) and Madrid, (Spain June 11-13, 2018), co-organized by the universities of Apeiron and Nebrija, respectively.

CICAs 2018 provide an interdisciplinary forum for world-class scientists, diplomats, policy makers and people from many other fields to discuss and exchange ideas on the hottest topics and progress on the field of security and defence and, more broadly, conflict and aggression.

Tentative topics

  • I. Risks and Threats of Europe
  • II. NATO’s mission
  • III. Security and Defence policy in EU Council and commission
  • IV. EU & NATO
  • V. OSCE & Russia
  • VI. Bilateral and multilateral alliances
  • VII. Problems of the BREXIT
  • VIII. Control of flows of migrants and refugees
  • IX. Security sciences and security studies. Research perspectives concerning security problems in the global, local and personal perspective. Conceptual framework and security sciences methodology
  • X. National and international aspects of state security
  • XI. Preserving Security at public and private levels
  • XII. Security culture
  • XIII. Conflict and aggression

Although all of the above mentioned topics may be analyzed in both CICAs, the LIV CICA Cracow Security Forum 2018 will be focused mainly on Security, with a priority on specific regional problems, such as Visegrad issues, whereas the Madrid LV CICA will emphasize on the Future of Defence in Europe, with a priority on geographically closer regional problems, such as North Africa and Mediterranean.

Besides the active contributors to this Conference -via symposia, oral or poster presentations-, it will also be a nice opportunity to offer a forum of interexchange to scientists and other people interested on these topics for meeting international colleagues and young students from around the world, renewing acquaintances, making new professional contacts, and networking in an informal atmosphere; to discuss their current research, future directions and international development of our fields, facilitating cooperation between specialists, scientists, and politicians, as well as to cross fertilize different areas of interest. This explains why others may be interested in participating as a passive attendance.
