A program whose objective is to favor the practical training of the students, under the continuous supervision of the Department of Professional Careers of the University, the academic department corresponding to the degree and the company or collaborating institution where the internships are carried out. We provide advice on the choice of internships and follow-up and tutoring, always considering the professional orientation of each student.
The students of the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing of the San Rafael Nebrija University Center for Health Sciences come into contact with the working world by carrying out supervised external internships. These are, according to the current Curriculum of said Center, a compulsory subject of 80 ECTS credits. It begins in the 2nd year, in the subject “Basic-level Supervised Internship”, through the performance of basic care, in the health or social care field. They continue in the 3rd year, in the subject of “Mid-level Supervised Internship”, through the implementation, in a hospital setting, of mid-level surgical medical care. In the 4th year they finish their practical training with the subject of “Advanced-level Supervised Internship”, providing critical or specialized care, as well as primary health care.
At all levels of the internship, supervised learning is carried out so that the student can integrate in his/her practical knowledge into the theoretical knowledge acquired, as well as the attitudes and values necessary to reach the professional competences that will enable him/her to provide adequate health care to the needs of the population. Thus, in the training and follow-up of the internship student will be, on the one hand, the tutors of the centers in which they are carried out, and, on the other, the professors responsible for the supervised internships in continuous coordination. The coordination of internships designs the trajectory that the student should follow throughout their training, by covering and taking the opportunity to put into practice all the competences required in the Bachelor's Degree.
The learning methodology used in the subjects at the different levels of Supervised Internships is based on the application of a scientific method for problem solving and a reflective practice that provides the students the progressive acquisition of action outlines and strategies that will allow him/her to become, in the medium term, a thoughtful nursing professional. The competences to be acquired by the student, as well as the evaluation system followed, are specified in the respective teaching guides.
Students must be the protagonists of their learning, and this in turn must be actively shared with the internship professor, the teaching tutor and the nursing team that collaborates in the practical learning.
The Supervised Nursing Internships are regulated by specific regulations.
In order to carry out the supervised internships, the San Rafael Nebrija University Center has a series of agreements with Centers in both the public and private sectors. On the other hand, there are also agreements with foreign universities that allow the student to stay to carry out the internship. For more information on these agreements, see “International Option”.
The list of agreements for carrying out Internships in the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at the San Rafael Nebrija University Center is as follows:
